We all know that 20 years ago, the price of the petrol was close to around 40 INR a litre and it peaked to almost double before soothing a bit down to the current price of approx 71 INR a litre. Similarly, keeping the inflation in mind, it would be prudent to assume that 1 lakh INR now would value extremely less after 20 years.

Now just imagine that you are leading a retired life and sitting on a kitty of 1 crore INR. Today, you can buy plenty of luxurious things with such a huge amount. However, keeping the inflation in mind, your 1 crore of INR won't be I crore. It would be much lesser in terms of value. Shocked? Yes! That is the sad reality of how inflation ruins the present value of money.

So to lead a healthy lifestyle even after retirement without compromising on anything, you need to understand the urgency of retirement planning.

In fact, the reality is very grim when it comes to retirement planning. People will invest their hard earned money in insurance policies and say that I have enough policies to take care of my life after retirement. But, sadly, they fail to realize that investing in mutual funds gives you a better return than investing in many traditional or market linked policies. Just as life insurance is necessary, as it secures the family after you are no more, similarly, retirement planning secures your life, after your retirement till you live. Hence retirement planning is necessary and this is where Reliance is urging the younger lot of the nation to start early retirement planning.

Retirement Planning! WHY???

All this I came to know from one of India's respected asset management company, Reliance where few bloggers were invited for the meet.

Reliance Capital Asset Management has recently launched India's first ever retirement product, Reliance Retirement Fund which not only invests in equities but also in fixed income securities and debt market. It is an open ended mutual fund scheme.

Pi courtesy: Aayesha Hakim
The key feature of the product is that it has two schemes, Wealth creation scheme and Income generation scheme.

Wealth creation scheme is primarily an equity oriented accumulation where 65-100% is invested in equity and equity related instruments and remaining in debt and money market securities.

Income generation scheme is the opposite. It invests 70-95% in debt and money market securities and remaining in equity instruments.

Thus, depending upon your age and risk profile you can choose the scheme.

The key features of the plan are:

1. Unlimited switches between schemes
2. Exit load of 1% on redemption before age 60, subject to lock-in period of 5 years
3. Auto transfer facility to move from accumulation to distribution phase i.e. from wealth creation to income generation.
4. Step up facility, where you can increase your SIP or pay lumpsum at any time apart from SIP.
5. Systematic Withdrawal Plan

The plan is idea for both youngsters as well as those nearing their retirement. So what are you waiting for? Start planning for your 2nd Innings with Reliance Retirement Fund and have a healthy retirement.

Also remember, we plan to buy things which will depreciate over time rather than planning for things which will increase your wealth in the future. So, start investing in your retirement now, where you will see a flow of income after your retirement.

Travelling in Mumbai has its risk. No, I am not talking about the divide on religion. I am also not talking about which team do you support in IPL. Neither am I going to talk about potholed roads which are in a competition with the craters on the moon.

Today  I am going to vent my emotions on a particular thing that my nose can freak me out within seconds. Ok, make that minutes in case your sensory organs fail to react and send signals to your brain instantly, which may only happen if you are in a midst of experiencing a mutual pleasure. You know what I mean, heh (Wink)?

So as I said, travelling in Mumbai has its risk. Risk of being forced into a box emitting various kinds of stench that can be nauseating at times and can also be a cause of excessive inhaling of foul smell leading to severe headache clogging the functioning of the brain. Even companies marketing various room fragrances will fail miserably in this case. The box which I am referring is a moving box which allows you to reach to your destination, but leaving you in a dazed state till you get out of it. Yes, you have guessed it right. I am referring to the local trains which usually and especially in summers are an olfactory of foul body odors.

Just recently, unwillingly and with a will of steel, I boarded a local at a peak evening hour to reach my home station. A slight push from behind and I was inside the chamber of dark nauseating pungent smelling humans. The train purred and halted at the next station. Again, a slight push from someone who had just boarded the overly stacked chamber of humans, led my nose straight into the raised armpit of a fellow passenger. For a minute, I thought of my lovely family, closed my eyes, expecting myself to reach the doors of heaven. I regained my senses, pushed my neck behind taking my nose along and winked plenty of times to come out from the hands of the death. I somehow managed  my journey without bumping my nose anywhere. Simply ask a Mumbaikar who has been travelling in the second class of smelly, sticky and sweaty chamber during the peak evening hours, I am pretty sure that the story of mine will match with his.

Then, there is another gas chamber. People over there release much more than they should and they usually release such foul smells with a silent blast of a hydrogen bomb within themselves. Or, in case he is unable to control the sound, he produces a grunt at the exact time, while exercising and concentrates building muscles as if nothing has happened. Is there a special place reserved for such persons in hell? I seriously hope so. So, you have got it right. I am talking about the gym, which you prefer to visit regularly but go once in a blue moon.

Source: Imagefav.com
Of late, I always prefer to keep distances from the ones who have just exercised and choose not to have a shower at the gym but at home. One day I encountered a series of such special species, who not only refuses to have a shower at the gym, but also prefer not to spray their armpits with deodorants. Hence, the next day I decided to wear a white coat with a sign hanging around from my neck saying, ‘Dr. Armpit’ with cans of deodorants placed strategically. However, I dropped the idea after thinking the reactions to my simple life saving action. So, the next day I decided to go to one of those specie and told them in exact words, maintaining an eye contact, “I am having it enough. It is time I gift you my special ‘Mantastic’ deodorant.” I pulled the can out of my bag and placed it in front of him. From next day onwards, I was awarded with exercising souls dressed aplenty with deodorants. I felt claustrophobic and a sheer facepalm moment for me.

Anyways, the moot point is, our nose knows, can #SniffSniff and understands the danger coming towards us. The only things you need to do is keep calm and pray you get out of it soon.

I am sharing my odour story for the ‘My Nose Knows’ contest as a part of the #SniffSniff activity at BlogAdda.

"A baby is born with a need to be loved and never outgrows it." - Frank Clark.

Babies are the wonderful creation or rather a gift from the God which strengthens the love and bonding between people around them. They are always the #FirstLove for their parents. They are the bundle of happiness who with their one smile can bring the world on their feet. Such is their innocence. In everything they do, they smile and always be happy. That is the biggest reason why we simply adore babies. Their first crawl, first try at uttering something, stretching of their arms after a good sleep and many of their moves always brings a smile and happiness on parents' faces. So when it comes to babies, it is but natural that we tend to give the best to them. This is exactly what I did as a parent to my bundle of joy, started using one of the best product to massage and nourish the soft and smooth skin.

Initially there were rashes seen on the body, few months after the birth. We still persisted with the traditional method of massaging with the oil that was being used since generations. But somewhere I was left dejected and started consulting doctors. That time one of my friend suggested using Dabur Baby Oil with Olive and Almond. Luckily, at the same time I got this opportunity from BlogAdda to check the oil on my baby and see for myself whether it proves to be good or not. I applied for the product and to my surprise it arrived in style, just like my little one!!

The packaging and the labelling as you can see in the above pic by Dabur is quite amazing. As soon as I received the bottles, I was excited to apply the oil on my little one and the very next morning I tried it.

The oil is a wonder for me as it is the first baby oil that I have come across which smells great. With a mix of premium natural oils like almond, olive and jajoba it definitely spreads the fragrance all around. The oil is smooth when placed on the palm and spreads easily when applied on my baby. He thoroughly enjoyed the massage while I enjoyed massaging him with the all new Dabur Baby Massage Oil. Also, using it continuously for 5 days gave me a sense that my baby's skin seems to much more softer than before and there are no signs of any rashes on his body. I am now happily relived that my baby doesn't seem all reddish after massaging and moreover the product pack keeps him engaged while I massage him.

All in all I am in love with the Dabur Baby Massage Oil and my #FirstLove and I highly recommend using the product.

The oil has following features which is highly necessary for the nourishment of the baby's skin and they are:

1) It is made up of Natural oils like Almond ,Olive, Jojoba, Sun flower and Sesame oils.

2)It provides nourishment to the Baby's skin.

3) Olive is known to help provide nourishment to the babies skin.

4) Almond is known to gently moisturizes your baby's delicate skin making it soft and supple.

5) It is Paraffins Free and suitable for the Baby's skin also.

6) It does not contain any artificial colours.

7)It is safe to use on skin as it has been dermatologically tested.

8)Regular massaging helps strengthen bones and muscles.

9)An attractive and playful product pack which helps engage the baby while massaging.

The oil is not at all heavy on the pocket as well. A 100ml bottle just costs Rs.110/- only. So don't wait for any other baby oil for massaging and start using Dabur Baby Massage Oil for a more nourished baby skin and a healthy baby.

Drumrolls please!!!! Here is the pic of my baby on whom I tried The Dabur Baby Massage Oil.

It is the age of being digital and having a strong presence in the digital and social media is a necessity and Axis Bank is no behind.

I was a part of the privileged few bloggers to be a part of the 'Axis Digital' event organised by Blogadda held at the bank's corporate office.

The event was wonderfully organised, starting with a nice breakfast which led to the interaction with fellow bloggers and the head of the bank's media relations. After a couple of rounds of tea and a healthy interaction we were led to the conference room where it all began.

So let us first know what Ping Pay by Axis Bank is all about...

Ping Pay’ is a unique multi-social payment solution to enable customers, especially the youth and smart phone users, to transfer money and mobile recharge, person-to-person, including to non-Axis Bank account holders, using social and messaging channels like WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Email and Phone Contact lists.

Isn't that great?!! All we have to do is load the app on your smartphone and you can then transfer or ask for money and even recharge for a particular amount.

So the basic features of Ping Pay app are:

1) Send money socially
2) Ask money socially
3) Send recharge socially
4) Ask recharge socially
5) Open a savings account with Axis Bank
6) View Account Balance

Of course, all the above is simply not possible with stringent security at all the levels of a particular transaction. The security features are locked it at the on-boarding level as well as the transaction level. So there is SIM locking, Device locking and OTP at the on-boarding level and Ping Code, Fastalink which is locked to a profile and cannot be forwarded as well transaction limit of 50,000 per day per transaction.

So the application has made sure that there is no security issues at any level. Once you have loaded and app, let us now see how to proceed with the application in a series of pictures so as to simply for you.

This is how the Registration process takes place.

And this is how the registration takes place.

The application has a feature that work on gestures. It has a bubble placed in the centre and when you move it up or down, it ask for sending money and receiving money respectively which is a user friendly interface. You can also attach a picture, audio or a pre-loaded messages to the transaction and make it a more fun way to ask or send money.

So all you have to do is drag the bubble towards the upper part of your screen where you will see the preferred mode of payment as well the list of contacts. You can search from your contacts from your Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp but all the contacts need to be stored in your mobile.

As I said earlier, that the security is extremely tight and one more feature which makes is so secure while transacting is the Mpin.  Thus before starting with any transaction it will ask you for Mpin which is all of your choice. So there is no question of you receiving any pin. It is punched in by you as per your likings. So there are no chances a transaction going wrong.

So as you see from the above pictures, there is a customized pre-loaded message applied before confirming the transaction, along with ping code which will be shared with the receiver via sms after which a fastalink is generated for the intended receiver. This link will be received by the receiver when the receiver logs into the Ping Pay App. This transaction is valid for 15 days after which the money will automatically be credited to the sender's account if the receiver does not accept it.

So let us see the brief for the social app called Ping Pay by Axis Bank.

§  Ping Pay allows users to transfer funds seamlessly to anyone they are connected to using WhatsApp,Facebook, Twitter, Email and Phone Contact Lists

§    It is the only banking social payment application which allows users to share digital content like text, images, audio and video, while sending/asking for money/mobile recharge

§  An innovative gesture based mobile app designed to provide customers with a delightful user experience while enabling money transfers and mobile recharge with utmost convenience

The person-to-person fund transfers through Ping Pay would happen via NPCI’s Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) and currently the transaction limit is at INR 50,000 per day. IMPS offers an instant, 24X7, safe and convenient interbank electronic fund transfer service through mobile phones.
Ping Pay is seen as a strategic step by Axis Bank in bringing superior customer convenience, embedded in a seamless and secure process, to one of the most important online financial transactions viz. funds transfer, and in the process fast-pacing India’s progress towards becoming a cashless economy. India is largely a prepaid mobile market – the Ping Pay app also enables sending person-to-person mobile recharges, tapping into a huge opportunity.

Ping Pay has been developed in partnership with Fastacash, a Singapore based, venture-capital backed firm. Fastacash’s technology enables value (money, airtime, coupons, etc) transfers, along with digital content, across any social network and messaging platform. The company brings it technology to end users by partnering with banks, mobile operators, remittance companies, payment service providers and mobile wallets.

Axis Bank account holders can download the Ping Pay app and sign up for the service using their registered mobile numbers and associate their Axis Bank internet banking credentials or ATM/ Debit Card to send money and mobile recharges. Funds and mobile recharges can be sent to any bank account holder.

The app provides an innovative, gesture based user experience that enables money transfers without having to type in the account number and the IFSC code. Sending or requesting money or mobile recharges with the Ping Pay app takes a few simple steps. When sending money, the user chooses a social or messaging channel and selects the name of the person to whom the money is to be sent. They enter the amount to be sent and set a “ping code” that is shared separately with the receiver. Upon confirming the transaction, the money is immediately sent and the receiver gets a message across the social or messaging channel selected by the sender. The receiver has 15 days to transfer the money to his/her bank account using IMPS. In the event, the receiver does not claim the money received within 15 days, the transaction would be auto-reversed to the sender’s account. Ping Pay also has ‘Ask for Money’ and ‘Ask for Recharge’ options, which would allow the receiver to put in a request for funds and also seek recharge from their friends and family across social.

Overall it was a wonderful experience interacting with the banking professionals and discussing about the app. Thoroughly enjoyed the meet. Thank you for the invitation Blogadda and Axis Bank.

Life Insurance in a layman’s term is a contract between the insurer and the policy owner where the insurer agrees to pay a sum upon the policy owner’s death. In return for this, the policy owner agrees to pay a stipulated amount known as ‘premium’ at agreed intervals. In short, life insurance  is a risk protection for everyone.

Life Insurance is extremely important now-a-days, as life has become highly uncertain. You never know when life takes a turn for the worse and leaves your family behind with shattered dreams. During such times, having a life insurance policy comes in handy. However, under such circumstances, the best way to keep insured is by purchasing a Term Life Insurance Plan. One such term insurance plan is Edelweiss Tokio Life – MyLife+ plan which will enable a family to lead the same lifestyle which it used to before the unfortunate event. It is a pure online term insurance policy that has no maturity benefits.

The key benefits of Edelweiss Tokio Life MyLife+ plan are as follows:
·        Flexibility of payout options
·        Cover up to the age from 18 years to 80 years
·        Low Cost Term Assurance Plan
·        Tax benefits for premium and claim amount
·        Comprehensive Cover Through Riders
·        Low Cost Term Assurance Plan

From the above benefits, there are two key advantages that Edelweiss Tokio Life - MyLife+ plan has when compared to others like HDFC Click2Protect Plus and Max Life Insurance Term plan.

At first, this plan has the term period of 80 years, which is the highest in the industry. Secondly, Edelweiss Tokio Life - MyLife+ plan gives you the option to choose from lump sum payment or income benefit or you can also combine the both and tailor the death benefit to offer both part lump sum and part periodic payment.

The other special part about this policy is that it offers discounts to women wherein the premium paid by a 21 year old female will be that of a 18 year old male. This 3 year age setback will be maintained for females who are 22 years and above and this feature is what makes this plan special for female life insurers. Apart from this, this policy also offers three riders to choose from and they are accidental Total and Permanent Disability Rider, Accidental Death Benefit Rider and Waiver of Premium Rider.

Overall, when you compare this plan with other plans, it is one of the best as well as a cheaper plan available, which allows you to customize the payout options as per your need.

So in case you are planning to buy Edelweiss Tokio Life MyLife+ plan or have taken this plan and want to share your experience, then please leave a comment below.

Excited mein rehta
Excited mein kehta
Get. Set. Bolt !!

Yes! Excited as a word is just a tip of an iceberg, when it came to the excitement levels on 19th April, 2015, where I was about to get my hands on the new Tata Bolt.

Captain Asleep: Is there a Tomatino festival here?
Captain Bolt: No, you idiot, wake up! It is me, Tata Bolt. Wait! Stop staring at me as if I am your wife!

The venue, Cafe Infinito, at BKC was full of excited bloggers, chirping, laughing, clicking selfies and doing what people usually on a Sunday morning do, relaxing. I noticed that I was in for some special treat, as I walked towards my table, directed by none other than 'the most energetic smile I've ever seen on a Sunday morning that too at 8 am'. Don't ask who. She knows it!

Captain Asleep: Wondering, how can one be so pumped up on an early Sunday morning?

I met my fellow team mates, Vishal and Monish pretty soon and we got started with the introductions after having an excellent breakfast. It is from the introductions, that all the fun began.

Having asked to introduce ourselves creatively, Vishal came up with a unique idea of introducing us through dumb charades.

Captain Stage Phobia: Thank God, Vishal agreed to introduce us! Else, I would have definitely grabbed 'The Most Lame Introductions Ever' Award at WIN' 15.

We finished the introductions in a grand style with (if I am not wrong) one of the best introductions ever, as majority of the bloggers out there had a fun time guessing what Vishal was prompting.

After the introductions, we were being presented with a presentation about the details of the car, the design and almost everything that can be put up, in say 30 minutes. Almost, all the bloggers managed to keep their eyes open all the while.

Captain Asleep: They had to as nobody wants a 'Sunday Morning Sleepy Face' to be clicked and uploaded.

After a much needed short break, the bloggers were fresh and ready to hit the roads on the new Tata Bolt, for which, we were divided into 8 teams, four driving the petrol variant first and four driving the diesel variant first. Ours was team D3, meaning we had to drive a diesel variant of the new Tata Bolt and Vishal, being generous enough allowed me to drive first.

Captain Now Awake: Thank you Monish for declaring about your driving skills to us. (Else, tightens the fists and stares...) I truly like you for that!

After waiting for almost 20 minutes for the rest of the A, B and C teams to flag off their drives towards Lonavala, finally it was our turn to set out on a wonderful and memorable journey in the new Tata Bolt.

Let me at the outset make it clear that my opinion of the car will be that of a ‘user’ and not technical.

The exterior was pretty good. I liked the design and the bright red color. It probably went in sync with the exterior. The interior was plush and made me feel like I am seating in a premium hatchback.

With full of excitement, I pressed the accelerator and off we went for our first test at MMRDA grounds.

It was a suspension test, where I drove two circles and tested the suspension on the speed breaker twice. The first time, I took it at a dismal speed and we all felt as if we were at the Essel World, enjoying a dangerous ride. However, for the second round, I kept the speed slightly above the previous time and off we went, feeling only slightly uncomfortable. This shows that you need to be at some speed to avoid the bumpiness and the car has a good suspension to take on the bumpy ride.

In the meantime, Captain Bolt from the infotainment system interrupted us in a nice way by introducing himself and promised to be back soon.

After that, it was a ride not to be forgotten for a long long time especially for me, as I was driving long distance, if you may say so, for the very first time. I felt the car to be extremely responsive and the pick up was excellent which you would not find in many of the top selling cars in the segment.

As we drove, Vishal, tried many functions on the Harman infotaiment system with touchscreen and I tested the voice command system of the car. The buttons are responsive with a single touch and to make the drive comfortable, the voice control buttons are mounted on the steering itself. Thus, making it easy to command any instructions, like increasing the temperature, setting an FM or even dialing a call and reading an sms.

The most thrilling part of the ride came when we hit the highway and more so the Mumbai-Pune expressway where I touched a speed of 140 kms not once, but four times. The interesting part is that the car didn't even shake at that speed, where most cars almost give up and the steering and dashboard gives you a feeling that it is shaking.

I could simply zip zap my way through the minimum traffic that Sunday morning had and that is when the funny Captain Bolt called.

Captain Bolt: 140 ki speed pe toh maze he honge na!??!!
Captain Delighted: (After bouts of laughter) Woh toh test kar raha tha, car shake hota hain itni speed pe ya nahi.(Followed by bouts of laughter)

It was then time for pit stop at the Food Mall where Vishal took over for the rest of the drive as I sat like a happy and proud puppy having beaten the blues of driving at some speed.

Captain Not So Cool: Try driving at that speed or even at half of it with your family on board. I'm sure with all the avoidable, incessant and continuous round of instructions you will prefer to bang your head on the steering wheel, like Bang Bang!!
Captain Delighted: You talking to me.... ?

After a chilled ride with temperature set to 18, we reached for our next pit stop for lunch at Triose Plaza. Feeling famished after driving for most part of the journey, I along with the blogger friends took to having the delicious lunch. I gobbled up as much as my stomach could allow me.

We continued with our ride but only after exchanging the diesel variant which I had driven, with the petrol Revetron variant. Vishal was game to drive through the ghats towards Tiger point, the final destination and well, he literally made the insides of my stomach churn in agony as he swirled the car at some speed. By speed I mean not less than 35 to 40 kms where there are steep turns to handle. And the petrol variant was pretty much responsive with sudden brakes and turning smoothly at some speed.

All the while I was seated at the back seat and my ride was pretty smooth. The best part about the car is its leg space; the best among all the hatchbacks as it will be evident from the video.

Upon reaching the Tiger point, it was a mandatory selfie and photography sessions. Post which we drove back to base with a halt at CCD.

Captain Tired: Yawns and tries to catch some sleep. What! Who! I've won the photography contest. Whoa! That's precisely what one needs after an exhilarating day, right? Flexing arms with a wide smile on the face.

Overall, if had to recommend the car, then I would definitely recommend it. BOLT from Tata Motors is not to be missed if you are planning to buy a car anytime soon.

Last but not the least, I would like to thank the Team @ Blogadda and Tata Motors for organizing such a wonderful, coordinated and hazzle free drive and giving me an opportunity to test drive the new Tata BOLT. Cheers!!

Though I was exhausted and drowsy by the time the car reached back to the base, I had a “A Sunday well spent at #BoltDrives with BOLT from TATA Motors in association with BlogAdda.

Publisher: Kando Books
Price - 99 cents (Kindle)

From the author of Inconvenient Relations Simi K Rao!

If you enjoyed Inconvenient Relations, you'll love The Accidental Wife, a new contemporary romance from Simi K. Rao.

Some accidents are meant to happen…

Dr. Rihaan Mehta is a brilliant young neurosurgeon who has no inclination for love or marriage. According to him wives and girlfriends are annoying accessories that one can do without. But when his mother dangles the sword over his head in classic Bollywood style, he succumbs, and sets out in search of a bride who would fit his 'requirements'. But can Rihaan deal with what he gets instead?

Review: I rarely read e-books, but the title and the blurb made me inclined towards reading this book and I must say that I was not at all left disappointed with the book.

From the word go, the book sets up the pace nicely and increases slowly as you keep turning the pages. The characters are well defined generating enough pique at every stage to find out more about the characters in the story. The characterization is perfect and flows according to the plot. Although, it is a simple story but it never allows you to leave away from the grip that the narration creates. A narration that is simple yet humorous strikes the chord with me as it is difficult to be humorous at times. The author does a great job in succeeding at that which is what I really liked about in the book.

The language is simple to read and understand without any grammatical errors seen. The author has perfectly blended a good mix of emotions in the story and it has come out well. It is a roller-coaster ride while reading the book.

Overall: The Accidental Wife is a simple and well told story that keeps you entertained throughout the set of pages. It is a light afternoon book to read along with a cup of coffee to accompany you.

Ratings: 3.5/5*
